"How are you supposed to react when a stranger tells you that you have 24 hours to live before the 'end'? I reacted by not believing him..."
On a Pern that was said to be ending, 15 dragonriders with 7 passengers from High Reaches took a leap between to bring their cherished clutch of 11 to Ista Weyr for temporary safe-keeping. Instead of being welcomed with the warmth of the island, they were greeted with the cold of between. A between that didn't end even far past when the count hit 60.
"But as I raised my hand above my eyes to block out the sunlight, I finally noticed something horribly wrong."
Those riders washed up on the Island of Seryl. An island that looked like a paradise until they stared too far away in any which direction. Surrounding the space around Seryl was a blackness darker than they had ever seen.
First came panic, and second dread, before all there was left was a nagging feeling in the back of some of their minds: "we didn't make it out of between alive. "
The story of the dragonriders is not the only one being told in this tale. On the island there are people. People who have lived there an unknown amount of time. People who see dragonriders not as protectors of Pern, but as the horrors that plague the island when night falls. Seryl isn't a peaceful place. When the dark sets in, the Others come out. Ghost-like to our eyes but absolute monsters that threaten the lives of the people living on the island.
Welcome to a roleplay where you participate in making the decisions, where your actions affect what happens to the characters and their chance of survival.
