Personality and Appearance: Th'den was once a powerful and handsome man, and though he has diminished somewhat, he's still pretty good-looking. Sandy blond hair falls to his shoulders in a loose wave. Blue-green eyes are framed by a tanned face, lined by care. His nose is a bit large and his mouth is a bit stern, framed by a neat, short, beard. He has a stocky build, and though he might not be as muscled as he once was, he's still in good shape. He prefers clothing in rich dark colors, comfortable but well made, and jewelry of gold and copper.
Th'den is a stern man, but an essentially kind one. He guides his charges with patience and wisdom, but his praise is sparing. He's not prone to yelling, but most of the time, just a disappointed look will shame most students into better behavior. Each student is almost as precious to him as his own son, and so if anything was to happen to one of them, he would feel personally responsible. In the weyrling barracks, his word is law, and he resents outside interference, even if its well meant. He's a stubborn sort of guy anyway, and doesn't often ask for or accept advice. He's not particularly interested in the opposite sex any more, after the death of his weyrmate. He has a few one night stands now and then, and participates in mating flights, but that's about it. Honor and duty are very important to him, as well as courage and loyalty. He can be a bit of a drag to hang out with sometimes, because he tends towards pessimism.
History: Theoden was born the middle child of five but only son to Th'gel of bronze Edorath and the former Headwoman of the Weyr, Denna. He was fawned over by his older sisters, but especially by Theodwyn, and they remained close throughout his life. Theoden always knew he wanted to he wanted to be a dragonrider like his father, and he wouldn't even hear of taking a craft as a backup, though if he'd had to, he'd have done something with animals. He loved canines and runners especially.
So he went through his lessons fine, being somewhat clever if not especially fond of books. His life as a Candidate was fairly uneventful. His eldest sister had joined the medical guild several years prior, but his sister Theodwyn was also a Candidate, and she Impressed green Windfolath when he was 15. A little over a year later, another clutch was on the Sands and Theoden became Th'den when he Impressed brown Heugrimth. Although he loved his brown, he always felt a little bit ashamed that he hadn't been good enough for a bronze, like he wasn't living up to his father's standard. Weyrling training passed and he was moved to a wing. After a few years, the Weyrleader was impressed with his leadership skills, so he was moved to a Wingthird position. Five years later, he was made Wingsecond at age 28.
Meanwhile, his sister had weyrmated another brownrider, E'den of brown Hamath, and had two children, a girl and a boy. Th'den adored his niece and nephew and it inspired him to want to settle down a bit and have a family of his own, as much as a dragonrider could settle down, anyway. After his Heugrimth flew green Lossanarth in a mating flight, he grew close to her rider Medrenna, and eventually the two decided to become weyrmates. Th'den was ecstatic when they found they were expecting their first child. But his joy was short lived. Though their son Theodred was born healthy and whole, there were complications and Medrenna died of blood loss. Soon after, a freak accident took away his favorite sister Theodwyn and her weyrmate, and he made the decision to raise her orphaned children as his own. So now he was a single father of three.
Under his care, all three children grew up healthy, strong willed and dutiful, if a little on the grim side. E"mer Impressed a bronze at age 15, and Eowyna apprenticed to the medical guild soon after. At 12, Theodred started his Candidacy as well. With the kids growing up and leaving him, Th'den felt somewhat at a loss of what to do next. But the Weyrleader mentioned offhand that the position of assistant weyrling master was open. Th'den applied and was accepted to the position. He enjoyed it so much that three years later when the Weyrling Master died of old age, he took over the position. He has been the Weyrling Master of New Caledonia for two years.

But he's also a brave dragon who enjoys a bit of excitement and adventure on occasion, and he always looks forward to the Spring Games. Heugrimth likes the females as much as any make, but he's more shy than he is flirty. He believes in the importance of deeds over words to impress a mate. He's pretty picky when choosing females too, because he keeps hoping that his rider will like one of their riders.he doesn't like how lonely Th'den is.
Dragon’s Appearance: Heugrimth is a glossy chestnut brown color that darkens to almost black on his feet and tail, and he also has a darker dorsal stripe. There is faint patterning on his neck and head that almost looks like knotwork. He is tall for a brown but about average in length. He has a lean muscled look to him, he isn't stocky or bulky as some browns are. In the air, he has a good balance between speed and stamina, and though he doesn't seem to be particularly graceful or elegant, he is a powerful flier.
